The 7th International Defence Exhibition and Conference was held from 12 - 17 February 2005, at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibitions Centre, Abu Dhabi the Capital City of UAE. 12th February 2005, was the Press day and Gulf Defence Conference day. Exhibition days were 13 - 17 February 2005.

The region's largest military show, the International Defence Exhibition (Idex 2005) was inaugurated by His Highness General Pilot Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

IDEX has established itself as one of the most prestigious defence exhibitions worldwide and this edition is the biggest and most comprehensive ever as it offers an opportunity to key decision makers, defence ministers, chiefs of staff and senior officers from the defence forces to network with defence equipment manufacturers.

More than 900 companies from some 50 countries showcased the latest defence equipment and technologies on over 25,000 square metres of indoor and outdoor space. Over 66 defence minister, chiefs of staff, high ranking officers and military experts attended the activities.

Organizers, the Abu Dhabi-based General Exhibition Corporation, said the resounding success of IDEX 2005 would spur companies from around the world to come back to the UAE in 2007 with more spaces and technology.
