THE LEGENDS “Rock” DUBAI main event, a singles and doubles tennis exhibition organised annually by Delwood.

The tennis exhibition took place on 1st and 2nd November. The highlight was a singles match between Bjorn Borg of Sweden and John McEnroe of the United States on November 2. It was the last time the two, who formed one of the greatest rivalries in modern tennis, played each other. Other tennis super stars Ilie Nastase of Romania, Guy Forget of France, Peter McNamara of Australia, Henri Leconte of France, Emilio Sanchez of Spain and Mansour Bahrami of Iran.

The two beneficiaries of this community driven project was the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and the Dubai Center for Special Needs. Princess Ghida of Jordan, The Chairman of King Hussain Cancer Foundation and Niall Booker, Deputy Chairman and CEO of HSBC Bank, Middle East Limited, joined Farbod Dowlatshahi, President of Delwood, to make a special presentation to the two players before the start as McEnroe had to leave for the airport immediately after the match.

This was the 15th meeting between the two players with honours level at 7-7. But last night, McEnroe closed the doors on their long-time rivalry once and for all as he won 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 in the deciding tie-break.
